Submission Guidelines

Resonance publishes contemporary poetry only. All submissions are handled through our online portal. Emailed submissions will not be read.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for poems that reward rereading. Work that is emotionally precise, formally attentive, and rich in image. Poems where form and content are inseparable — where the line does something the sentence cannot.

We are drawn to compression, to music, to surprise. To poems that earn their endings. We are not interested in sentiment substituted for emotion or cleverness substituted for depth.

Issue One is unthemed. All formal approaches — free verse, received forms, hybrid structures — are welcome. What matters is precision of language and feeling.

We are not the right home for:

Work that is primarily narrative without linguistic attention
Work that is primarily confessional without formal consideration
AI-generated work in any form
Previously published work, including personal blogs and social media

General Policies

→Simultaneous submissions are welcome. Notify us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.
→Submit only once per reading period. Wait for a response before submitting again.
→Include a brief cover letter with a third-person biography under 100 words.
→Response time is within 4 weeks. Please do not query before then.
→There are no submission fees.

Format

Submit up to 5 poems in a single document, not exceeding 10 pages total. Begin each poem on a new page. Submit as a PDF or Word document.
